TruCryo Device Used During Lance Stroll’s 2023 Formula One Rehabilitation

Stroll suffered fractures to both wrists in a cycling accident just weeks before the opening Bahrain Grand Prix, placing his participation in the first race of the season in considerable doubt. A TruCryo cryotherapy system was purchased for Stroll and supplied to his Formula One team for use within its performance and rehabilitation environment. TruCryo also supported the equipment by sending a trainer to provide practical instruction to the practitioner responsible for using it.

The system formed part of the wider rehabilitation programme Stroll undertook as he worked towards returning to racing. Despite the severity of his injuries and the extremely limited recovery period, Stroll took part in the opening Bahrain Grand Prix and went on to finish sixth.

Stroll’s recovery resulted from a wider programme of surgery, specialist medical care, and rehabilitation, supported by an experienced professional team. Targeted cryotherapy was part of that process, offering an interesting example of how the technology can be used in an elite sporting environment.

For TruCryo, the story also highlights the importance of supporting the equipment with appropriate practitioner training, rather than simply supplying a machine.

Localised cryotherapy can sit alongside established physiotherapy, sports treatment and recovery techniques, allowing practitioners to apply controlled cooling directly to specific areas of the body.

The experience gives TruCryo a valuable real-world example of its equipment being selected and used in one of the most demanding sporting environments in the world.
